Now you may find yourself, as I did, wondering what the big deal is about the "new" colors. Who cares what the Pantone color of the season is? It was Emerald this last year, in case you were curious. I think SouthBound Bride said it best, see her blog post here. The Pontone color of the season is not meant to encourage all brides to use the same color scheme and make it easy on all planners and accessories designers. The idea is to encourage exploration of color you hadn't thought of before, think like a designer. After all you are designing your wedding and all of the biggest designers are going to be using the new colors. 

In general picking wedding colors can be a stressful decision. My best suggestion is go with a color(s) you love. You are going to be seeing a lot of it and naturally picking something you like will make all the other decisions easy, you will automatically be drawn to them. 

Planning a wedding creates a time vortex. It's the best kind of vortex because, after-all, you are planning for the party of the century, but it does take time. In my experience evenings on week days are the best. Vendors are usually around to answer your calls and after a long day at work what better way to relax than with a glass of wine and color swatches.

It's Sunday and I suggest you take a break. Go enjoy the beautiful weather before winter sets in. Spend some quality time with your future husband. Have lunch with friends. Clean up the house a bit. Take a long bath. Anything but planning. Taking a step back can give you a new perspective and things always look better with fresh eyes.

Toned, tan, fit and ready. That is every brides dream and many stress over looking perfect on the most important day of their lives. I am here to tell you to stop. This year one of the most popular fall wedding dates is 11-12-13. Tuesday is not a common wedding day choice but how cool would it be to have your wedding day date be sequential. Recess wrote a great article on places to get married next month. The top pick is Vegas due to the number of deals chapels will be offering. 

There will only be one more opportunity in the next 90 years for a special wedding date, 12-13-14. If you want to pass on the tradition you will have to hope your grandchildren choose 01-02-2103. Better start planning!

Here comes beauty and the ring! The last week has been all about publicizing and getting our name out there. I feel like I am a bride again, searching every website out there. Here is a short list of great websites to check out if you are actively planing and how I am working to get noticed by those brides. 

Wedding Bee classifieds is a great place to find pre-owned wedding items as well as some vendors (even though they don't like us advertising there). The blog is always updating with great ideas and useful wedding tips.

Craigslist, yes craigslist. There is never too much publicity right? I have yet to discover where all the brides "hang out" and I remember searching the abyss of stuff once or twice when I was a bride myself. 

Facebook is the ultimate social media hub and our page is created and linked to the website. Now for figuring out the advertising capabilities.

The Knot and Wedding Wire both charge to actually get placed where brides can find you and I want to have more material to share before I go that route. You have to put in to get out but as excited as I am to have hundreds of clients I also know it is going to take time and slow and steady is the way to go. 

Here Comes the Guide is going to be my dream post. They require 15 client and 15 vendor references and are intent on evaluating all of them. If you are a bride this is amazing and I highly recommend the site. I used venue searching almost exclusively when researching. As a new business this will be a long term goal.

Having just helped an amazing friend have the wedding of her dreams as an official Day Of Coordinator it is time to make this official. Starting a new business and being involved in weddings is something I have always wanted to do. I never imagined being nervous telling my friends about my new adventure but I am, this is much scarier than it looks!
